Ahahahahahaha, “leftover Easter candy.” Clearly, I mean Easter candy that you buy on your way home from work today at 50-70% off because you have no leftover Easter candy. One way to use up “leftover” Easter candy is to just eat it. But where is the fun in that when you could add more chocolate, sugar, and other deliciousness??
Cadbury Creme Eggs are my favorite Easter candy ever – I cannot pronounce 86% of the ingredients, but while I am eating it, I just don’t care. These Cadbury Creme Egg cookie bars somehow make the most delicious candy just a little more delicious.

Here is a list of some of my favorite happy hours in LA to get you through the week. Hump Day Happy Hour – make it a thing!
Bar Bouchon in Beverly Hills. In addition to people watching, from 4:00-7:00 Monday-Friday, Bar Bouchon features glasses of wine at $5 and $7 well drinks to go with $2 oysters, steak tartare, pork sliders, and truffle popcorn.
FIG Santa Monday has a literal happy hour from 5-6pm Tuesday-Saturday. Although it is a small window, it is worth it because EVERYTHING on the menu (except the steaks) are half off, as are the drinks.
Gracias Madre in West Hollywood is the best vegan Mexican around, and from 3-6pm on weekdays, they have a $5 happy hour menu and discounted drinks. As an added bonus the outside patio is gorgeous.
Napa Valley Grill in Westwood has a weekday happy hour menu that is pretty extensive. If you want a nice wine flight, this is the place to go. And then there is the kale salad…so good.
Cecconi’s West Hollywood has happy hour on Tuesday-Saturday from 4-7 pm where a variety of items are $4-$7 (including a fontina and black truffle burger).
Mas Malo in DTLA has happy hour from 3-7pm on weekdays. They offer beer for $3, sangria for $4 and margaritas for $5. They also have a variety of food specials as well, but you really should just get guacamole fries. Lots of guacamole fries. And add carne asada, because it is delicious.
Bottom line: You made it more than halfway through the week, you deserve discounted drinks.

I was recently in Seattle visiting a friend for her birthday. We went shopping at the Farmer’s Market the day before her party for last minute essentials like flowers and ginger beer for the signature cocktail the “Sparkle Pony” (it’s made with Cranberry Honey Crisp Ginger Beer and Whiskey – it’s delicious, you’re welcome). While we were there, I sampled a ridiculous amount of jam. I love jam. Like, a lot. I really like jam.
This love of jam is a problem because I don’t eat rice, wheat, or corn. And you need at least one of them to make pretty much anything that you would put jam on (other than just a spoon). Nevertheless, I wanted jam. I was actually somewhat concerned about how much I wanted jam. Ugh, now I want jam.
OK, I need to move on.
Back to my original purpose of this post – cloud bread. It is delicious, and an excellent vehicle for jam that doesn’t use rice, wheat, or corn! Dammit, back to my love of jam. I really need to focus. Alright, ingredients: 3 eggs (separated), 3 tablespoons of cottage cheese OR cream cheese, one pack of sweetener, and 1/4 teaspoon of cream of tarter. Simple ingredients, simple to make, simply delicious.
You pretty much have to have lived under a rock this week to have avoided the Kim K selfie, then the second one. And of course people had their opinions. Chloe Moretz and Kim K disagree apparently.
As we are approaching swim suit season again, we should all be hitting the gym. In the event that you need more incentive than bikini season, there is a super volcano under Yellowstone and you might need to outrun it. According to science, you might just be able to do it. Start training.
Since we are now hyper focused on outrunning super volcanoes over here at 30adjacent, we are watching what we eat too. However, we are not willing to give up ice cream, and thanks to this delicious treat, we don’t have to.

I am continuing to try and eat meatless on Mondays. I am not sure if it is necessarily healthier, but it certainly less expensive 🙂
These black bean croquettes with fresh salsa are easy to make, and can be made with that can of black beans in your cupboard and the corn in your freezer. Added bonus, they are baked, so the fat content is pretty low and they are filled with protein.
Bottom Line: These are high in fiber, high in protein, and low in cost. Does it get any better than that?
I tried to do the 21 Day Sugar Detox…I made it 11 days. On day 12, I was at the gym and my trainer told me to have sweet potatoes after our workout. He gave me a super simple recipe, and they are delicious. Like, I’ve made them 4 times in since I got the recipe 5 days ago. All you need is a sweet potato, olive oil, salt, and nutmeg. And that, my friends, is it. The nutmeg is a magical addition that brings out the natural sweetness of the potato without adding the calories of brown sugar.

While there are some things that are worth hard work, eating healthy doesn’t have to be one of them. I know I’m not alone when I say that I would eat healthier if I had the time. However, between working, working out, and dating (yes, it’s happening, more on that in another post), there just isn’t that much time left to cook healthy meals everyday.
Thankfully, a friend introduced me to Green Blender. It’s amazing! Each week, they deliver to your house all the pre-portioned ingredients you’ll need to make 10 smoothies. Each smoothie recipe is filled with fresh produce and superfoods. And, added bonus, almost all the produce is organic and from local farms. At first I tried it because it seemed like an easy breakfast that I wouldn’t need to think about – I mean, they deliver to my door, have everything already pre-portioned out, and there is a simple recipe. Pretty much, dump it all in a blender and press start. However, after trying it, I have to say, it’s delicious! And, they integrate ingredients that I don’t normally use. Yacon root anyone?
Bottom Line: There are still two weeks left of Fit February. Now, go get healthy 🙂
